Shawn McCorkle

Born and raised in Newton, NJ Shawn discovered his passion for baseball at a young age. With unwavering dedication and a natural talent for the sport, he honed his skills through countless hours of practice on local fields.

During his college years, Shawn played baseball at Montclair State University, where he left an indelible mark on the program. With a remarkable career batting average of .400 and an impressive total of 38 home runs in just three years, he quickly garnered attention from professional scouts along with numerous awards and accolades finishing the Division 3 College World Series as runner up and making the All Regional and World Series Teams.

In 1998, Shawn was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 7th Round of the MLB Draft, marking the beginning of an extraordinary journey in professional baseball. He showcased his prowess on the field, earning accolades such as being a Midwest League All-Star in 2000 and receiving the team MVP award for the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Following his retirement from professional baseball in 2003, Shawn transitioned into coaching and teaching, where he continues to make a significant impact on the sport. He began his coaching career in 2011 as the Associate Varsity Head Baseball Coach at Monroe Township High School , a role he held with distinction until 2016. At Monroe, he reached 3 county finals and two state finals in his tenure there.  He furthered his influence in the baseball community by co-founding PRD Baseball Academy, where he continues to help develop the next generation of athletes.

In 2021, Shawn took on the role of Director of Team Operations at PRD Baseball Academy, showcasing his leadership and organizational skills. 

Additionally, Shawn serves as the Assistant Athletic Director at the Ranney School since August 1, 2023, where he continues to inspire young athletes both on and off the field. Currently, Shawn holds the position of Associate Varsity Head Baseball Coach at Ranney School, where he imparts his knowledge and passion for the game to aspiring players.

Certified as an On Base U hitting coach, Shawn brings a wealth of expertise to his coaching endeavors, helping players refine their skills and reach their full potential.

 

Off the field, Shawn remains committed to giving back to the community and inspiring the next generation of athletes. His dedication, leadership, and love for the game continue to leave an indelible mark on the world of baseball.
