Biography

Angelo is a former 2nd round pick of the NY Yankees and standout throughout his amateur career. He’s now our director of Ghost South Bay and a member of our PRD advisory team to assist with players that have potential draft stock to serve as a sounding board and checks/balances system for their advisor. Angelo’s Resume:

  • Angelo is a former 2nd Round Draft pick of The New York Yankees at 17 years old out of Torrance High School in Ca. who had a 10 year Professional Career.
  • Angelo spent 6 years 2010-2015 with the Yankees where he won his first Championship in the New York Penn League in 2011, SAL Player of the Week, and was ranked top ten landing at number 7 in the entire Minor League Organization of The New York Yankees in 2012.
  • Angelo also has experience playing Professional Baseball Internationally in the Dominican Republic in 2010, and in the Puerto Rican Winter League for Los Indios de Mayaguez in 2012.
  • After 6 years with The New York Yankees Angelo signed with the Cincinnati Reds and played there for 2 years 2016-2017 where he achieved FSL Player of the Week in 2016, and Southern League Co-Champions in 2017 from the cancellation of the series due to a hurricane.
  • From there Angelo spent 2 years in the Indy Ball Circuit playing with the Cleburne Railroaders in the American Association in 2018, and the Schaumburg Boomers in 2021 after the Covid season cancellation where he was assigned Co-Capitan of the team leading them to a 2021 Frontier League Championship Title before retiring from playing.
  • In 2019 Angelo managed at Redondo Sunset taking his All-Star Team to the Pony World Series placing 3rd amidst knocking out 2-time defending Champions South Korea, a feat no team in the league had ever achieved.
  • In 2019 Angelo also coached at Palos Verdes High School.
  • 2020- Current Angelo Gumbs has coached Travel ball, Showcase ball, and has been a private instructor for kids ranging in age 8-18U
